About online lessons

Online music lessons let you learn from home with the same quality tuition you’d get in our studio. All you need is a device, your instrument, and an internet connection. Your teacher will send you a Zoom link before your first lesson — the same link works every week.

Getting set up

Piano

Place your device on a high chair, table, music stand, or tripod to one side of the piano at an angle. Position the webcam at eye level — think about where your teacher would sit next to you during an in-person lesson. It works best if your teacher can see both you and the keyboard.

Singing

Set up your device so your teacher can see your face and the top half of your body when standing. A table, windowsill, or piano top usually works. If you often play and sing, have your instrument ready. Keep a second device handy to play backing tracks if needed.

Drums

Position your device so your teacher can see both you and your drum kit — this might mean angling the camera down from a higher point. Don’t have a kit at home? Chat with your teacher about DIY practice setup options.

Guitar and bass

Set up your device so your teacher can see both you and your instrument. It might need to be placed a bit further away than you’re used to.

Tips for a good session

  • Get set up and test everything before your first lesson
  • Find a quiet space where you won’t be distracted
  • Have your instrument tuned and ready to go
  • Keep any music or materials your teacher has sent within reach
