About drum lessons

Drum lessons at We Are Loud are hands-on from day one. Our teachers get you behind the kit and playing beats straight away — building technique, timing, and confidence through songs and styles you enjoy.

Who it’s for

Drum lessons are for all ages and levels — from first-timers who’ve never held a stick to experienced players wanting to develop their skills. Don’t have a kit at home? Talk to your teacher about DIY practice setup options.

  • Private: 30 min $41.50 | 45 min $62.00 | 60 min $83.00

All lessons are charged via direct debit on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis. Scholarships may be available through the We Are Loud Charitable Trust.

Becca Meyrick (She/Her, They/Them)

Drum Teacher

Becca has been performing for over 10 years and brings that energy straight into lessons. With 4 years of teaching and mentoring experience, she teaches drums, ukulele, and helps run our rock band sessions. Her approach is hands-on and encouraging — focused on getting students playing and feeling confident behind the kit.

Matthew Scarfe

Matthew Scarfe (He/Him)

Guitar, Drum, Bass & Band Teacher, Band Project Coordinator

Matt brings a wealth of experience as both a performer and educator with a BMus in Jazz Performance and an MMus from Auckland University. With over 15 years of performance experience across a range of genres, he coordinates the Band Project programme — giving students the chance to play together, develop ensemble skills, and perform live.
